1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using gammoned.com (the "Platform"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you should not use the Platform.
The Platform is a free online backgammon service that provides educational content, AI opponents, and multiplayer gameplay. No payment is required to use any features.
2. Account Registration
To access multiplayer features, you may create an account using email-based authentication. When you request to sign in, we send a one-time magic link to your email address. No password is required or stored.
You agree to:
- Provide a valid email address that you own or control
- Keep your email access secure, as it serves as your authentication method
- Not create multiple accounts for the purpose of manipulating ratings or rankings
- Choose a username that is not offensive, misleading, or impersonating another person
3. User Conduct
When using the Platform, you agree not to:
- Cheat or exploit - Use any software, bots, or external tools to gain an unfair advantage in games. This includes using backgammon analysis software during live games.
- Manipulate ratings - Create multiple accounts, collude with other players, or intentionally lose games to artificially inflate or deflate ratings.
- Harass or abuse - Use the chat, username, or any communication feature to harass, threaten, or direct abusive language at other players.
- Disrupt service- Attempt to overload, hack, or interfere with the Platform's infrastructure or other users' experience.
- Stall or abandon - Intentionally delay games or repeatedly abandon games in progress to frustrate opponents.
4. Game Rules and Fair Play
All games on the Platform follow standard backgammon rules. In multiplayer games, dice rolls are generated server-side to ensure fairness - neither player can influence the outcome of rolls.
Ratings are calculated automatically based on game outcomes. Rated games affect your rating; casual and AI games do not.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform - including text, graphics, board designs, game interface, code, and educational materials - is the property of gammoned.com or its content contributors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Platform content without prior written permission.
Backgammon itself is a public domain game. These Terms do not claim ownership over the rules or concept of backgammon, only over the specific implementation and content on this Platform.
6. User Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Platform, including usernames, chat messages, and bug reports. By submitting content, you grant the Platform a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and store that content as needed to operate the service.
We reserve the right to remove any user content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.
7. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms, including but not limited to cheating, harassment, or rating manipulation.
You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us through the contact form. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed, though anonymized game records may be retained for leaderboard integrity.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
We make reasonable efforts to ensure fair gameplay and accurate ratings, but we do not warrant the accuracy of any ratings, statistics, or leaderboard positions.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, gammoned.com and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform.
Since the Platform is free to use and involves no financial transactions, any liability is limited to the extent required by applicable law.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
For significant changes, we may provide additional notice through the Platform interface.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the jurisdiction in which the Platform operator resides.
